Lara Huber studied philosophy and history in Bamberg and Tübingen, where she did her Dissertation on the phenomenology of Maurice Merleau Ponty in 2004. From 2004 to 2005 her research in the philosophy of psychology was supported by a postdoc-scholarship from the German Research Foundation at the International Centre for Ethics in the Sciences and Humanities, IZEW, Tübingen. Thereafter she joint the Medical Department, University of Mainz (Institut für Geschichte, Theorie und Ethik der Medizin, Prof. Dr. Norbert W. Paul, 2005-11) as a postdoc researcher and lecturer, and the Philosophy Department, University of Mainz (Wissenschaftstheorie/Theoretische Philosophie, 2008-11) as a lecturer. In recent years she was postdoc-researcher and lecturer at the Philosophy Department, Technische Universität Braunschweig (Lehrstuhl für Wissenschafts- und Technikphilosophie, Prof. Dr. Nicole Karafyllis, 2011-12) and Technische Universität Darmstadt (Lehrstuhl für Philosophie und Geschichte der Wissenschaften und Technowissenschaften, Prof. Dr. Alfred Nordmann, 2013-14).
From 2011 to 2013 she has been secretary of the Gesellschaft für Wissenschaftsgeschichte e.V.
In 2018 she obtained her habilitation (venia legendi in philosophy) from the University of Wuppertal (Lehrstuhl für Wissenschaftsphilosphie, Prof. Dr. Gregor Schiemann). Her habilitation thesis analyses and critically reflects on norms in the laboratory sciences from the perspectives of epistemology and action theory (Standards und Wissen: Zur Praxis wissenschaftlicher Erkenntnis. Eine philosophisch-systematische Untersuchung, Velbrück Wissenschaft 2020). Since 2017 she is a senior researcher and lecturer at Kiel University.
